EAT CLEAN?

Nowadays so many people advise us to “eat clean”. But what does that really mean? People are trying to say avoid processed foods , pesticide, junk foods etc. But in reality, clean is not exactly the right wording. Most food these days is not really clean: there are pesticides in organic foods too, most dairy products or meats are not grass fed, fish is not raised in very clean waters, grains are not the healthiest anymore etc etc.

so rather than say eat clean, i think the idea is to avoid junk foods and lots of processed foods, as much as possible. We should buy organic where possible. But it is expensive and not always authentic. so we do our best.

we should avoid junk foods. Sugar is obviously not a health food. On the other hand, tons of coconut sugar or maple syrup is not either healthy. Olive oil is healthy in moderation but refined olive oil not so much. avocado oil, coconut oil…these are processed and not necessarily so healthy. they did not even exist in the olden days.

I think the main idea is not just to eat “clean”, but to eat balanced, and not to over eat.

What do people in many mediterranean countries eat? Breakfast may be some type of bread, butter and yogurt, and perhaps eggs.
lunch could be a meat or chicken dish with rice, or a soup of some sort. Dinner could be fish, a salad and rice or some cooked or baked vegetables.

Snacks should be fruits or nuts, but in general snacking a lot if not so healthy. Our stomachs need a rest to digest better.

there are many aspects to healthy eating. it is not about clean eating so much as about balanced eating and in general a balanced moderate lifestyle.
